All these text messages were sent by scammers - can you spot the giveaway signs?

OK, so the question 'did you spot them?' was a bit of a con itself. Because all the text messages in this image are scams, sent by fraudsters to try and get the recipients to click on fake links and divulge personal and financial information.

Cyber crime isn't new – email phishing, ransomware attacks and so-called 'romance fraud' (conning people into thinking they're in a relationship with the fraudster, who then asks for money) have all been around for a while. Online fraud involving banks has been made easier for criminals by the large-scale closures of High Street branches, forcing more people to use Internet banking.

Deputy Chief Constable Jim Colwell, Devon & Cornwall Police

A new deputy chief constable for Devon & Cornwall Police was appointed earlier this month - and he is the first DCC in the force's history to have policed the same area in more than 20 years on the job.

Jim Colwell joined Devon & Cornwall Police in 2001, and was appointed to the rank of assistant chief constable in 2019 after working in various different senior roles.

Devon County Council's financial report for 2020/21 reveals an underspend of just £35,000 on total revenue, but the special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) budget shortfall increased by £29 million in the year to a current total of £49 million.
