Dawlish's Shaftesbury Theatre on Brunswick Place is showing the documentary as part of Great Big Green Week.

Dawlish's Shaftesbury Theatre is showing a documentary on the impact of climate change featuring Leonardo DiCaprio tomorrow night (Saturday 18 September) as part of Great Big Green Week.

Great Big Green Week is a national event organised by the Climate Coalition, starting on Saturday 18 September and ending on Sunday 26 September in Dawlish, and will see a series of events take place in the town.

St. Gregory's Church will hold the weekly swap from 9am-10am every Tuesday during school terms, starting on Tuesday 28 September.

A spokesperson said in a Facebook video: "People can come on a Tuesday morning. We're launching the swap shop on 28 September at nine o'clock in the morning and it's going to run every Tuesday in term-time thereafter at St. Gregory's.

The awareness campaign follows a sharp increase in the number of deaths on the region's roads.

Emergency services from across the South West gathered at Marsh Mills in Plymouth on Monday to launch the first leg of 'Project Edward (Every Day Without a Road Death).'

Among those taking part were representatives from Vision Zero, the campaign which aims to cut road deaths and serious injuries to zero by 2040 and to reduce current numbers by 50 percent by 2030.

A video featuring posters made by children from three local primary schools in and around Dawlish has been put together by Dawlish Town Council's Climate Declaration Working Group.

The posters are designed to encourage adults to change their behaviour and consider their impact on the planet, and were produced by pupils from Gatehouse Primary Academy, West Cliff Primary Academy, and Cockwood Primary School.

A Teignbridge District Council scrutiny committee backed a proposed increase in the charge for an extra non-recyclable waste bin from the existing £132 to £300 per year.

Over 4,000 tonnes of extra waste was generated in Teignbridge in 2020/21 as the district's recycling rate remained at 56 per cent.

At a council scrutiny committee, Councillor Alistair Dewhirst (Lib Dem, Ipplepen) deputy leader and member for recycling, household waste and environmental health, praised staff for dealing with the "amazing increases" of recycling and black bag waste during the pandemic.
