At around 7am this morning (Friday 29 October), fire control received a call from a cyclist surrounded by as much as three feet of floodwater near Higher Sandygate.
One fire engine from Newton Abbot, one from Torquay and a water rescue boat from Exmouth attended the incident together with two police officers.
One of the three remaining cygnets has gone missing.
The three cygnets were seen together in the Brook on Friday 29 October, but only two could be found the following morning.
October 2021 was milder than average but had around twice the quantity of rainfall despite the number of dry and wet days being close to average.
October started unsettled with low pressure across Scotland and associated weather fronts sweeping across the UK. Following another low pressure centre, which moved across Wales on the 5th, there was a change to drier weather as high pressure built across the country. The mainly dry weather lasted until the 17th when Atlantic low pressure again started to bring weather fronts in from the west. The 19th and 20th were particularly wet and this was partially due to storm "Aurore". The storm, named by Meteo France, moved quickly east and brought gales to some coastal areas of Southern England and Northern France. After two more short dry intervals the month ended as it started, wet and windy.

People in Teignbridge who pay to have more than one general waste bin will find the cost more than doubling next year.
The council's executive team plans to raise the charges as part of plans to increase recycling. The cost of extra non-recyclable waste bin collection will rise from £132 to £300 per bin per year – applicable to those who don't qualify for an extra free bin, either due to the number of people living at a property or for medical reasons.

Fear of fireworks is a very real and genuine fear that many dogs have. Our dogs are programmed to respond in three ways to fearful stimuli – FIGHT, FLIGHT OR FREEZE. All of these reactions are normal and how your dog reacts will depend on their personality and confidence level.
The most important thing to remember is don't force your dog to do anything that they are uncomfortable with.
