Compared to the 1981 to 2010 average, July 2021 was warmer and wetter, both in terms of the number of days with rain and total rainfall for the month.
Despite a fine start, with high pressure over SW England, July soon turned unsettled as low pressure and associated weather fronts moved in from the Atlantic.

Dawlish firefighters were called out to Starcross yesterday (Wednesday 28 July) at around 12.43pm after multiple reports of an outbuilding and trees on fire.
At the scene, one storage container was on fire and smoke was issuing across the main road.

Dawlish ice cream and coffee shop The Local Scoop has won as many as five awards for its handmade ice cream.
Independent regional food group Taste of the West, which has been giving its seal of approval to West Country food and drink producers for almost 30 years, gave the Dawlish-based business three gold and two silver awards today (Wednesday 28 July).
