The Dawlish Against Plastic group is set to hold an informative talk on Wednesday 18 August as part of carnival week.
The chair of the group, Vanessa, will speak on the subject 'Why do anything about plastic?', and it will take place from 2pm-3pm in the marquee on the Lawn.
Local running club Dawlish Coasters has recently welcomed its 100th member.
Founded 25 years ago as a small ladies-only running club in Starcross, it now welcomes male and female runners of any ability.

A recent group skydive raised more than £4200 last month (July 2021) for a Teignmouth-based charity.
Volunteering in Health provides support to people in Teignmouth, Dawlish, and Chudleigh, and has welcomed the money raised after most of its fundraising activities had to be put on hold during the pandemic.

Home care provider Home Instead West Exeter & Teignbridge has won an award for its services from a national reviews website.
It won the award thanks to reviews left by clients and loved ones on the homecare.co.uk website, which has been dubbed 'the TripAdvisor for home care'.

An example of rubbish parking in Branscombe led to local residents deciding to make an example of the unknown motorist concerned.
Not only was their car parked on a clearly-marked Keep Clear area near the entrance to Parsons Lane – it was also blocking access to some homes for the council's recycling lorry.

The issue of Channel crossings by migrants in small boats is growing.
So far in 2021, it is thought that around 8,000 migrants have entered the UK illegally. This is a similar figure to the number that arrived in the whole of 2020.
Dawlish Carnival is set to start this weekend (Saturday 14 August) and last into next week (Friday 20 August) after being postponed in May.
Organisers are also asking people not to come if they have tested positive for Covid-19, display symptoms, or have been asked to self-isolate.

The initial dates for the upcoming free craft courses taking place at Crafters of Dawlish have now been revealed.
Starting in September, the courses will run on Wednesday afternoons from 1.30pm-3.30pm and will be initially limited to four to five people per session.
