An Easter display of colourful woolly creations is in place at the Lawn, after Dawlish residents got busy with knitting needles and crochet hooks to 'yarnbomb' part of the area.

Val Hempstock from the Spin A Yarn group, part of Assist Dawlish, announced the plan at the end of January and invited local people to contribute to the display: Get creative with wool for Easter yarnbombing display.

Val has described the response as 'fantastic', and she spent several happy hours adorning railings, trees and benches with the knitted and crocheted decorations on Wednesday, March 31, helped by her friend Caroline.

The items have been made by members of Spin A Yarn, including a lady who is blind and another who has dementia, and there have also been many contributions from the Dawlish WI and local crafters.

The Yarnbomb display will be in place until April 8, and people who enjoy seeing it are invited to make a donation to Assist Dawlish.
