Dawlish: Woman, 25, airlifted to hospital after A380 Telegraph Hill crash

Police are appealing for witnesses of a crash in which a 25-year-old woman suffered "significant serious injuries" on Saturday (10 June).

The only car involved, a BMW, left the road on the A380 near the top of Telegraph Hill on the Newton Abbot-bound carriageway.

The front-seat passenger, a 25-year-old woman, was airlifted to hospital and is still there. The driver sustained minor injuries and was also taken to hospital.

Police were called to the scene at around 1.30pm and the road was closed for around five and a half hours.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: "Police were notified of a single-vehicle collision which happened at around 1.30pm on Saturday (10 June).

"The incident involved a BMW car which had left the road on the A380 near the top of Telegraph Hill on the Newton Abbot bound carriageway.

"Devon Air Ambulance, South West Ambulance Service and Devon and Cornwall Police attended the incident.

"A 25-year-old front seat passenger suffered significant serious injuries and was airlifted to Derriford Hospital where she currently remains.

"The driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to Torquay District Hospital.

"Telegraph Hill was closed for five and a half hours while officers investigated this collision."
