The Dawlish Pound is back.

Shoppers are being given an extra incentive to buy local this Christmas, with the chance to win £50 if they spend at least £10 in a participating business.

Those who do so will be entered into a draw to win the cash prize.

The money will be awarded in 'Dawlish Pounds', meaning the cash also has to be spent in one of the businesses taking part in the initiative.

How does it work?

The scheme is being funded by the Dawlish Chamber of Trade and Commerce, which will reimburse all traders who accept the Dawlish Pounds from the winning shopper.

The initiative has been run before and boosted sales at the businesses taking part, as well as generating repeat custom.

It starts this Friday, December 4, which is also a late-night shopping evening, and runs until Sunday, December 20.

How do businesses join in?

All members of the Chamber are invited to take part, and should register with Andy at Curios by emailing [email protected]. He will provide further details of the terms and conditions, and provide a promotion board to highlight participation in the scheme.
