What you can and can't do at Dawlish Leisure Centre

The lifting of Covid restrictions that took effect on Monday, April 12 meant that Dawlish Leisure Centre could reopen, including its swimming pool.

But it's not quite a return to normal yet, as all leisure centres have to operate under Covid-secure guidelines.

The activities that are now up and running again at Dawlish Leisure Centre are: gym, lane swimming, children's swimming lessons, family swims and household racket sports (badminton, squash, and table tennis).

All activities have to be booked and paid for in advance, and some are still suspended until further notice. Bookings can be made via the website or by phone, but not by coming to the centre in person.

No changing facilities or showers are available, so you'll need to come along with your exercise wear or swimming costume on under your clothes.

Toilets are available, but not water fountains, so you also need to bring your own bottles of water.

Social distancing is being enabled through a one-way system and zoned areas, and a limit on the number of people using the facilities at any one time. You should arrive at the start of your timeslot, not before, and the period you've booked includes checking in with your track and trace details, changing and getting ready to leave.

If the Government 'roadmap to recovery' continues according to plan, there will be a further easing of restrictions from Monday 17th May, when group exercise and adult swimming lessons will return, with Covid-secure measures in place.

From Monday 21st June all restrictions are due to be lifted, which may mean more people can use the gym, swimming lanes and group exercise activities at any one time.

The centre will continue updating customers via its website, Twitter and Facebook as further guidance comes from the Government.

There's lots of helpful information and advice on the Teignbridge Leisure

website.
