HM Coastguard and the RNLI responded to a report of an unresponsive swimmer in the sea off Holcombe yesterday (Wednesday 27 July) at around 6.10pm.

The person had reportedly been one of two people free-diving in the area from a small RIB (rigid inflatable boat).

An HM Coastguard helicopter, together with two Exmouth RNLI lifeboats and one Teignmouth RNLI lifeboat, found the casualty quickly.

He was brought on board the Teignmouth lifeboat and given emergency first aid.

He was then taken to Teignmouth Lifeboat Station where he was treated by an ambulance crew and taken to hospital.

The HM Coastguard helicopter and a Devon Air Ambulance helicopter were also seen landing on the Point at Teignmouth.
