Teignmouth Lido to reopen for first time since Covid-19 pandemic
Teignmouth Lido is "pencilled in" to reopen on Saturday 27 May, Teignbridge District Council has said.
The outdoor pool has been shut since the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020.
A "decarbonisation" project that took longer than expected also kept it closed last summer.
The £800k project involved installing solar panels, battery storage, low-carbon air-source heat pumps and high-efficiency modern pool circulation pumps.
A Teignbridge District Council spokesperson said: "When the doors open in May, swimmers and visitors will know that the lighting and heating systems are among the most eco-friendly of any pool.
"Cost savings from cutting out carbon energy means the council can run it without facing the pressure of increased energy costs.
"In addition to the 25-metre heated swimming pool, there are changing rooms with hot showers and toilets and lockers available.
"There's also a seating area for spectators and those who want to enjoy the summer sun as well as vending machines for drinks and snacks."
Opening times and entry fees will be announced soon.
If you would like to work at the Lido, apply before the closing date of 2 May.
