The Teign Estuary and Coastal Partnership is set to hold its free, public annual forum next month.

The partnership is led by Teignbridge District Council and includes other agencies and around 100 local groups. It co-ordinates the management of the Teign Estuary and the open coast between Dawlish Warren and Torbay.

The partnership's public representative Andrew Cooper said: "The Partnership really looks forward to the Annual Forum because it encourages a wide audience to help play a real role in local coastal management, or simply to find out more about this special place.

"From strategically important railway works on our coastal section to small improvements within the estuary which encourage people to get onto the foreshore or out on the water, we are keen to showcase existing opportunities and encourage new ways to make the most of the natural resource.

"The TECP is actively involved in economic development, water recreation, coastal defence, footpaths, slipways and coastal access, fishing and shellfisheries, conservation, the Templer Way and Stover Canal, bathing water standards and also operates a Small grants fund to encourage community groups to get involved in the hands-on management of this charismatic area."

Booking is necessary for the event, which will be held at Pavilions Teignmouth on Monday 9 May from 7pm.
