Swimmer in difficulty off Dawlish rescued

A swimmer who got into difficulty off the coast near Dawlish was rescued and airlifted to hospital on Friday (29 September).

Their current condition is not known.

Exmouth RNLI was called to the scene about 500 metres east of Langstone Rock just before 6pm, and having launched its inshore lifeboat it quickly found the casualty.

The swimmer was given emergency first aid, before being winched aboard an HM Coastguard helicopter and taken to hospital.
