Starcross garage fire believed to be arson

A fire that damaged a garage in Starcross is believed to have been arson.

Firefighters from Dawlish and Exeter were mobilised at around 8.10am on Sunday (13 August) following a call reporting the blaze.

Crews successfully extinguished the fire, and the garage was left 50 per cent damaged.

A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Three fire engines were mobilised following a call to control reporting a fire in the garage. Upon arrival the incident commander confirmed that there was a fire at the rear of the garage.

"Throughout the incident crews used two breathing apparatus, one safety jet, one thermal image camera, small tools, one triple extension ladder, lighting.

"The property was 50 per cent damaged by fire, heat and smoke.

"The cause is believed to be deliberate."
