Dawlish Art Group held its summer exhibition last week at the Strand Centre with judging by local artist Clare Jenkinson and prize-giving.

The group always have a wide variety of styles, making it a difficult choice for any judge, so this year three certificates were also awarded for highly commended work.

Joan Catto, Mary Nixon, Clare Jenkinson, Marilyn Berry, Jenny Norman, Kim Walker and Lorna Start all won prizes.

Winter Night (Lorna Start)

Above is the favourite painting voted by visitors to the summer exhibition this year.

Unlike other years, when one painting was a firm favourite, this year the votes were spread fairly evenly across most of the participating artists. Lorna Start's Winter Night managed to edge ahead to be declared the winner. Liz Brown had the most number of votes for all her art combined.

The group would like to thank everyone who came along to look at their artwork. They would also like to express their gratitude to Dawlish Town Council for its grant which helped pay for exhibition expenses.

Photos of the prize winning paintings will shortly be available on the group's website, www.dawlishart.co.uk
