Police are urging the public not to buy goods from an individual who has reportedly been shoplifting in Dawlish.

They have said that the person typically shoplifts and then tries to sell a variety of products to people for a cheap price.

Police are urging people to report it if they are offered stolen goods - and have warned that buying them is a criminal offence.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall police said: "We are aware of a local individual that is shoplifting in Dawlish.

"They will typically walk into a shop, take goods and leave without payment.

"They then proceed to sell these goods to members of the public for a cheap price. They sell a variety of goods for example meat, hairdryers, beauty products, alcohol and food.

"If this individual does approach you please do not buy the stolen goods from them as this is a criminal offence, instead please report it to the police through [email protected].

"Thank you for your help to discourage this behaviour."
