Police witness appeal as boy, 11, taken to hospital after Newton Abbot crash

Police are appealing for witnesses of a crash between a car and a child in Newton Abbot.

Police were called to the incident at around 8am yesterday (Monday 10 October) on Queensway, which involved a Skoda Yeti and an 11-year-old boy on foot.

The boy was taken to hospital with a leg injury described as "potentially life-changing".

The road was closed for around one hour.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: "Police were called at around 8am on Monday 10 October 2022, to a report of a road traffic collision involving a Skoda Yeti and a child pedestrian.

"An 11-year-old boy was treated at the scene and taken to Torbay District Hospital with a potentially life-changing leg injury.

"Devon and Cornwall Roads Policing Team and South West Ambulance Service, attended the collision.

"Queensway in Newton Abbot was closed for approximately one hour to allow for medical treatment, police investigation and recovery of the vehicle."
