Police appeal after allegation of man raped in Exeter

Police have issued an appeal for information after an alleged rape of a man in Exeter.

The incident is believed to have taken place between 4am and 5.15am this morning (Tuesday 29 March) in the grounds of St Sidwell's Church, Exeter.

A scene cordon remains in place. A man has also been arrested on suspicion of rape and is in police custody.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police are investigating an allegation of a rape of a man that is believed to have taken place in the early hours of Tuesday 29 March.

"It is believed that the assault took place sometime between 4am-5:15am on the grounds surrounding St Sidwell's Church, Exeter.

"A scene guard remains in place in the area. A 20-year-old man from the Exeter area has been arrested on suspicion of rape and remains in police custody."
