A planning application to convert a former shop on Bitton Park Road in Teignmouth into six apartments has been submitted to Teignbridge District Council.

The vacant premises, roughly opposite the Tesco Express petrol station, used to be a convenience store from "at least the 1980s" until around 2008.

It has since been vacant. The prior store was known at different times as A&A's, Dillons, and also One-Stop.

According to the planning statement, the intention is to "provide apartment dwellings and to vastly improve the appearance of this run down and dilapidated building", and "create good-quality and more up-to-date residential apartments using materials and techniques widely used in the area."

The flats would be comprised of two-bed and one-bed apartments with communal gardens and and storage for bicycles, refuse, and a general store for each unit.

The application is currently awaiting a decision from the district council.
