New defibrillator for Dawlish
A new defibrillator has been installed in front of Dawlish Community Transport's office in Barton Hill car park.
The charity, which offers transport to medical appointments and regular door-to-door ring-and-ride services, decided to ask for the equipment after holding defibrillator awareness sessions in 2022.
Dawlish Town Council has funded the purchase and upkeep of the new defibrillator.
A spokesperson for Dawlish Community Transport said: "This is an ideal location and in the short time it has been in place it has already been accessed, worth every penny of investment.
"Working with the South Western Ambulance Service, who maintain and monitor all three of the town council's installations in Dawlish, the council and transport service together will again be offering awareness sessions in the coming months."
Mayor of Dawlish Cllr Lisa Mayne said: "A defibrillator can make all the difference to someone in an emergency situation until the specialist help they need arrives.
"The town council is pleased to have been able to fund this unit in partnership with Dawlish Community Transport, in such a prominent and accessible location in the town."
The upcoming defibrillator awareness sessions will be held at The Manor House on Saturday 10 June from 10am to 11.30am and Monday 26 June from 6.30pm to 8pm.
