Here's how businesses and support organisations in Dawlish are preparing for the second national lockdown, with news on home deliveries, takeaway meals, and the possibility of Click and Collect Sunday roasts.

The lockdown took effect on Thursday, November 5, and will last until Wednesday, December 2.

The Helping Dawlish partnership – formed in March as an emergency response to the pandemic - will be updating their website and Facebook page with news of the support the member organisations can offer.

The group includes Dawlish Town Council, St Gregory's Church, the town's Chamber of Trade, the Open Daw Centre, the Community Transport Group, Action for Youth and other partners.

Anyone needing help who is not sure where to turn is asked to phone 07584 052 306 – the phone is not answered around the clock, but messages will be responded to.

Tthe Town Council office is closed to in-person enquiries until 2 December. Staff are mainly working from home but can still be contacted by email at [email protected] or on the main office number 01626 863388.

All bookings at the Manor House and Riverside Centre have been cancelled unless classed as one of the exempt activities such as support groups and educational sessions. Contact the course leader for further information about your session.

Many businesses that cannot open to customers are trading online, with some offering home deliveries.

Who's delivering meals or offering takeaways?

The Ugly Duckling is continuing its meal delivery service; for further information contact Catharine at the restaurant, via Facebook or on her mobile for further information. 01626 437343 / 07779117892.

The Local Scoop is remaining open as a takeaway and delivery service.

The cafe at Pride Fitness has a takeaway and home delivery service; book by phone on 07766 024 454 or via the website Pride Fitness

Forest Fungi says its farm shop is staying open seven days a week and its café provides hot takeaway food, including chef's specials. Anyone who cannot get there can call 01626 864 111 and staff will try to arrange a delivery.

The Velo Shack remains open for takeaways, with a limited menu.

The Puzzled Sweet Shop is resuming the delivery service introduced during the first lockdown, covering the whole of Torbay, Newton, Teignmouth, Dawlish and surrounding areas.

The Mix Coffee House and Bar is operating as take-away only during lockdown. Food and drink including cocktails available for collection or delivery Friday to Sunday betweeen 5pm and 9.30pm. Call 01626 439 475 or contact them via their website The Mix

The Smugglers Inn is offering click and collect for its popular carvery this Sunday. The roast dinners are available from 12pm until 6pm and can be pre-ordered now by visiting the pub's online ordering site.

Poppadums Healthfoods is still trading, and will also offer free local deliveries and Click and Collect.

Other shops and services

The Marine Garage in Exeter Road remains open for essential repairs and MOTs, and is prioritising NHS employees and key workers. Call 01626 865 152 or 07730 031 569.

Dawlish Library is offering a 'choose and collect' service; for further information visit the Devon Libraries website All loans that were due for return during lockdown have been extended until January 11 2021.

Presents of Dawlish has closed, but is trading through its website, with free delivery to Dawlish, Teignmouth and Starcross for all orders over £10.

Chic and Sassy is trading via its website Chic and Sassy

Luna Rosa is doing its best to get all its Christmas gifts on to its website, and is offering a click and collect service.

Roots Community Enhancement is offering craft packs for children, along with books and other items, and jigsaws for adults.

Crafters of Dawlish is operating a 'message and collect' service - contact them via their Facebook page.

Teign Taxis have reintroduced their Click and Collect service from Sainsburys in Dawlish. Shoppers should call them on 01626 391000 to check availability before booking their collection slot. The taxi firm will be offering services only to customers who need to travel, in accordance with the lockdown guidelines.
