Dawlish Community Transport has halved the cost of its Wednesday, Thursday and Friday trips for a limited period thanks to funding from the NHS South West Cost of Living Community Fund.

The charity offers transport to medical appointments and regular door-to-door ring-and-ride services.

A Dawlish Community Transport spokesperson said: "Dawlish Water Rotary Club has already supported our forever popular Tuesday trips enabling them to continue, with a discounted charge to passengers.

"Rain or shine, all year round we visit lovely places around Devon, often out with two minibuses: picking people up at home, from Kenton through to Dawlish Warren, out to Teignmouth, Shaldon and Bishopsteignton. Covering a far wider area than just Dawlish.

"Driving is at the heart of all we do; yet we don't just drive minibuses. We have a great fleet of community vehicles – cars as well; for shopping, social, medical and wellbeing journeys travelling far and wide, for the community.

"Never too young, never too old – children travel with us for their school trips, those able and independent, to the not so young, yet young at heart – the most mature lady who still travelled with us at the young age of 104 years.

"Some people think we only travel disabled passengers; we are all about the community – if you aren't able to use public transport or where no suitable transport is available, or you are a local group with a trip out in mind then do give us a call to see if we can help.

"All our vehicles are driven by fully trained and experienced, predominantly volunteers and they are a great team and volunteer to help others around them. What a wonderful community we have. "
