Firefighters put out fire in Henty Close, Dawlish

Firefighters were called out to a fire in Henty Close, Dawlish on Saturday (20 August) at around 6.25pm.

The fire service received a call from an occupant of a house reporting that a flat roof attached to their property was on fire.

Crews from Dawlish, Teignmouth and Middlemoor were sent to the scene and put it out using water jets and breathing apparatus.

A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "A two-storey property measuring 10m x 8m. Fire started in first floor balcony which spread to joists, fascias and soffits. Crews used a total of four breathing appartus, two hose reel jets, two safety jets, one thermal imaging camera, a triple extension ladder and small tools.

"This fire was confirmed as accidental."
