Dawlish Nub News' event of the week is Dawlish and District U3A (University of the Third Age)'s open day at the Strand Community Centre on Saturday 18 September.

You can find more events on the What's On section of our website, including Dawlish Poetry for Pleasure's next meeting, and the musical Frank's Final Redemption?

The event will last from 10am to 3pm, and is designed to encourage new members to join and show existing members what it has to offer.

The U3A reportedly has more than twenty interest groups, such as art appreciation, wine appreciation, badminton, book clubs, boules, French conversation, great lives, history, psychology, theatre, adventure, and watercolour painting.

Each group will be represented at the event and people will be able to talk to current members about the activities.

U3A Chair John Vick said: "It has been extremely encouraging to see such resilience in the past year.

"Membership is growing steadily, and thanks to the enthusiastic and creative work of so many people, we are looking forward with great confidence to a period of growth in what we are offering our members.

"Dawlish & District U3A has an exciting future."

You can find the Strand Community Centre inside Dawlish URC Church, and here on Google Maps.
