A company building a luxury care home in Dawlish is set to hold a dementia myth-busting event in the town.

Maria Mallaband Care Group's Head of Dementia Development Laura Steward will host the free event, which will take place at 6.30pm on Wednesday 18 October at the Hope Centre on Swift Road.

The talk will cover the question 'What is dementia?' and take attendees through the emotional needs of someone living with the condition, as well as tackling some of the myths and misconceptions surrounding it.

In addition, Laura will discuss the Maria Mallaband Care Group's approach to dementia, including its 'Dementia Pledge'.

The new luxury £13m care home, known as Claremont Manor, is expected to open in January.

It is located off the A379 near Sainsbury's and will have 71 en-suite bedrooms across three floors.
