The initiative to create a 'wall' of knitted poppies in Dawlish, for Remembrance Sunday, has begun.
Local residents are invited to buy a poppy, for a donation to the Royal British Legion, or knit or crochet their own. Patterns are available online, or paper copies can be collected from the Manor House.
The mayor of Dawlish, Alison Foden, launched the poppy wall on Sunday, November 1, and the first of the poppies were attached to the lower fence of the Bowling Club.
The poppies will be on display until Saturday, November 14.
Knitted poppies can be bought from The Shoe Centre or Crafters.

Meanwhile, the Dawlish branch of the Royal British Legion has teamed up with SW Sewing to create face masks decorated with poppies.
The RBL said they are machine-washable, and comfortable to wear.
The masks cost £7.00, with £2.00 of each sale going to the Poppy Appeal, and can be bought from the Royal British Legion Club of Dawlish, and the club's merchandise stall on the Strand.
The stall opened on Saturday, October 31, and will be there every day until Saturday, November 7, weather permitting, with social distancing in place.
