Teignbridge District Council has said that staff shortages, self-isolating, and vehicles breaking down have caused delays recently with waste collection.

The delays have reportedly ranged from 1-2 days in some areas, and the public have been asked to leave their bins out so that the crews can catch up.

They said that the staff shortages are due to a national shortage, and other local councils have experienced similar problems.

There are currently job vacancies for both Class C LGV drivers and refuse loaders on the waste and recycling team.
