Teignbridge District Council is currently paying residents of properties in council tax bands A to D a £150 council tax rebate.

The rebate is a one-off partial refund from the government to help people with the cost of living amid rising energy prices.

The district council has said that households that have had a successful collection of their 1 April, 15 April, 1 May or 15 May instalment 'can expect to receive an automated payment' over the coming weeks and 'definitely' by the end of May. It's now too late to set up a direct debit in order to receive an automated payment.

The payment will reportedly appear on your bank statement as 'TDC CRED ENERGY REBATE'. Payments are being made in batches, with the first having gone out on 29 April.

If you don't pay council tax by direct debit, the council has advised that it is creating an application process and will write to eligible households when it's in place.
