The Met Office issued a 'Heat Health' warning today (Friday 16 July), advising the public to be alert and ready, particularly the very young, very old, and those with a chronic disease.

The hot weather we've been experiencing is expected to last into next week, with temperatures staying high and cooling a little to around 21 degrees by Tuesday and Wednesday.

Today, the sky is clear and there is very little wind. The temperature will climb steadily throughout the day, reaching 22 degrees by lunchtime and 26 by 5pm.

On Saturday, it'll be a warm day with little to no wind, rising to 23 degrees at midday and cooling down after that.

Sunday will be the hottest day of the weekend, with temperatures already at 23 degrees by 10am and rising to 25 by 4pm.

Monday will see a similar progression, with highs of 24 and lows of 18 degrees.

Looking ahead to next week, it'll stay dry and clear all the way through to Thursday, but with cooler temperatures of around 20 degrees.
