Dawlish United FC's U16 youth team has reached the Devon FA Youth Cup final.

The youngsters beat Ivybridge Town 4-2 on penalties in the semi-final on 12 March, and will play against Elburton Villa in the final on 16 April.

Manager Paul McIntyre said: "It has taken a few weeks since the epic semi-final to sink in on what these lads have actually achieved.

"The Devon FA County Cup final is the ultimate the lads could achieve and it's been a long journey to get to the final.

"We had to overcome some very good teams and travel all over Devon. On the way, we beat Alphington, Sidmouth, Barnstaple, Brixham and Ivybridge.

"We are so proud of all the lads and appreciate all the effort the parents and fellow coaches Ash and Sam have given.

"This is a great achievement for Dawlish United and in the 10 years I have coached this is the first time a Dawlish team has reached a county cup final."

All are welcome to support the Dawlish U16 team at the final at 10.30am on 16 April at Devon FA on Coach Road, Newton Abbot.
