Dawlish, Teignmouth & Shaldon: Dog control consultation to end on 3 September

The public consultation survey for the Teignbridge dog control PSPO (Public Space Protection Order) is set to close on 3 September.

Since the current PSPO is set to expire in March 2022, the district council has been asking residents whether they think it should be kept or changed.

What does the dog PSPO do?

It was brought in by Teignbridge District Council to reduce 'irresponsible dog ownership'.

The current PSPO means that you have to:

  1. Keep your dog (or dogs, no more than six) on a lead in some areas and clean up after it;
  1. Not walk it on some beaches (including sections of Teignmouth, Shaldon, Coryton Cove, Dawlish, and Dawlish Warren beaches) from 1 April to 30 September, and keep it out of 'dog exclusion areas'.

If you ignore the order, you can face a fine of £100 on the spot or up to £1,000 in court.
