A Dawlish youngster has been recognised for his voluntary work with a national honour.

Harry Preddice, a student at Dawlish's Oakwood Specialist College, has won 'Young Volunteer of the Year' at the national Scope awards.

Nigel Davis, Divisional Scope Manager South, said: "It was with great pride that I read of your recent volunteer award this week for Young Volunteer category.

"Amongst over 4500 amazing people that support Scope in volunteering to run our shops, you have stood out as exceptional.

"I cannot tell you how impressed and delighted I am you have been recognised in this way.

"Our shops make a significant financial contribution to our charity, they are hubs in our communities and offer opportunities for people to give back and support our charity.

"I am very grateful for all you do to support us and you are an example to myself and all the others at Scope.

"Thank you for leading the way and supporting."

Scope is a disability charity and operates in England and Wales.
