The concrete wall panels on the second section of the new sea wall in Dawlish have now been installed.

Work on the second section began last November and is expected to take around two years to complete.

As many as 143 panels, each weighing between 11.55 to 12.95 tonnes, were put in over the past three months by Network Rail's contractor BAM Nuttall.

Now, concrete is being poured behind the new panels to strengthen the structure, and curved 'wave returns' will be fitted at the top of the wall.

New stairs down to the beach at Coastguard breakwater will also be put in.

Part of the beach and path between Dawlish and Dawlish Warren remain closed, and a diversion is in place at Rockstone Bridge via Exeter Road.
