Residents are being urged to take lateral flow tests whenever they can by Mayor of Dawlish Councillor Val Mawhood and two familiar faces.

Uncle Tacko (Tony Liddington of Promenade Productions) had his puppet Captain Ginger take a test on Sunday after the event on the Lawn had to be cancelled due to bad weather.

Mayor Val Mawhood said: "I urge you to take a test whenever you can.

"It costs nothing but your time; the Covid-19 virus costs lives, even now.

"Although Dawlish is coming alive again, the virus is still with us, and we need to continue to follow the guidelines and protect ourselves and others.

"I hope that we will all be able to enjoy the rest of the summer safely."

The mobile testing station can be found on the Lawn every Thursday (9am-12.30pm) and Sunday (9am-1.30pm).
