A petition against housing development on two Teignbridge farms has gathered more than 900 signatures.

It comes after Markham's Farm near Ide was included in Teignbridge District Council's Draft Local Plan as a site on which 727 houses could be built.

A public consultation on the potential development sites in the Teignbridge Draft Local Plan closed on 9 August.

Manor Farm in Holcombe was not listed as a potential development site, but it was identified in the council's HELAA (Housing and Economic Land Availability Assessment) report.

Both Markham's Farm and Manor Farm are owned by Devon County Council.

Launched just two weeks ago by Alison Foden, a district councillor and former Dawlish mayor, the petition now has 968 signatures.

You can view the petition here.

The petition will reportedly be emailed and posted to Devon County Council Leader Councillor John Hart, alongside a formal presentation at County Hall.
