Teignbridge residents can now apply for funds to help them pay their bills and living costs this winter.

The district council's new 'Household Support Fund' runs until 31 March, and is designed to help households in need pay their energy and water bills, and also pay for things like food, clothes, bedding, fridges, freezers, and cookers. It may also be used 'in exceptional cases' to help people manage housing costs.

There are no nationally imposed eligibility rules. However, you must be a Teignbridge resident, over the age of 16, and struggling financially. There is also no maximum amount a family can receive.

Teignbridge Executive Member for Communities, Housing and IT, Cllr Martin Wrigley said: "This fund will provide support to those who have been hardest hit during the pandemic and are still facing financial hardship as a result.

"Our aim is to support people as quickly as we can and I would encourage anyone in financial difficulties as a result of the pandemic to apply to the fund for support. I'd like to thank Citizens Advice Teignbridge for partnering with us to help deliver this money to people in need across the district."
