The Dawlish HM Coastguard Rescue Team helped Devon and Cornwall Police look for a missing person in Teignmouth overnight from Monday 4 to Tuesday 5 July.

The missing person was found safe and well by police on Tuesday morning.

The Dawlish team was called out at around 11.45pm, and stood down at 6.15am. Also assisting police were the Torbay HM Coastguard team, a Dartmoor search-and-rescue team, and Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service.

An HM Coastguard spokesperson said: "Dawlish Coastguard Rescue Team's pagers sounded around 2345hrs on 4 July 2022 to assist Devon & Cornwall Police in Teignmouth to search for a high-risk missing person.

"The team were joined by Torbay Coastguard Rescue Team, Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team Ashburton, and Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service.

"Extensive searches were conducted in and around Teignmouth. Dawlish Team stood down around 0615hrs on 5 July, in time to have a shower and head off to the day jobs.

"Further Coastguard Rescue Teams from HM Coastguard Area 10 - South Devon & SE Cornwall were tasked to continue the search.

"Just before 0700hrs on 5 July information was received that the missing person had turned up safe and well.

"A long night searching was had by all with a safe and successful resolution. The team also got the perks of seeing an awesome sunrise."

If you get into difficulty at the coast, you can dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
