Dawlish food review: Daisy's Tea Room | Opinion

By Will Goddard

Daisy's is a fantastic little tea room on the Strand, serving hot drinks, cakes, and light lunches.

I went there this week and had a 'Devon Cream Tea' - complete with loose leaf tea from a little pot, a scone, and jam and cream.

Naturally I put the cream on first (this isn't Cornwall, after all).

The scone was warm from oven as if freshly baked, the cream was delicious, and the strawberry jam was the proverbial cherry on top.

The tea also had a deep, rich, flavour that you can only get with loose leaves. They also gave me extra hot water for the tea as standard - a very welcome gesture for tea-guzzlers who tend to finish the pot quickly.

Ten out of ten - an ideal little place to go with friends for tea.
