Firefighters were called out just before 2.30am on Thursday (26 January) to a property that was "well alight" in Doddiscombsleigh.

Crews from Danes Castle, Middlemoor, Bovey Tracey, and Dawlish attended the incident.

Everyone was able to escape the building before the firefighters began tackling the blaze.

A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Three fire appliances attended a property fire which was well alight on arrival. Crews requested assistance from a fourth appliance, and the water bowser.

"Crews confirmed all persons out of the building, and got to work extinguishing the fire using two hose reel jets and two main jets.

"Good progress was made, and solar panels on the roof of the building were isolated. Crews used ladders and main jets to damp down areas."
