Dawlish firefighters helped put out a fire that lasted two days at Hill Barton Business Park near Clyst St Mary.

According to a fire service report, the fire started 'in a shredder and spread to a woodpile' just after 1.15pm on Friday 23 July. Large plumes of smoke were visible.

By 6pm, there were 13 fire engines on the scene, and 'steady progress' was being made in putting the fire out.

It continued to burn throughout the night, but at 8am on Saturday 24 July the fire service was able to scale back its efforts and was 'assisted by the weather'.

It was still burning at 3.30pm the following day, Sunday 25 July, but there were just three fire engines at the scene, engaged in 'turning over and damping down' the remainder of the fire.

At 11.02pm on Sunday 25 July, the fire service confirmed that the fire was extinguished.
