Dawlish firefighters help tackle gorse fire

Firefighters from Dawlish Fire Station helped put out a gorse fire on a headland near Kingswear at the weekend.

The fire was initially reported at around 3.12am on Saturday 18 June.

Crews from Brixham went first to investigate, and found around 300 square metres of gorse was on fire. They requested help and a fire engine from Totnes was sent.

The fire quickly spread to around 1000 square metres, and so another engine, a water bowser and 4x4 vehicle was sent.

In total, eight fire stations including Torquay, Brixham, Buckfastleigh, Dawlish, Totnes, Danes Castle, Greenbank, and Middlemoor attended the incident.
