Dawlish firefighters were called out to Starcross yesterday (Wednesday 28 July) at around 12.43pm after multiple reports of an outbuilding and trees on fire.

At the scene, one storage container was on fire and smoke was issuing across the main road.

Using fire hoses, the crews surrounded the fire. They identified four 'cylinders' involved in the fire, and it was unclear what was inside them.

After successfully extinguishing it, the fire service established that the contents of two storage containers were 80% destroyed, and made sure to cool the cylinders back to an ambient temperature.

It is believed to have been an accidental, caused by a nearby bonfire that was left unattended.
