Dawlish and Torquay fire crews were mobilised to join Teignmouth personnel fight as many as three separate fires in allotments to the rear of Kingsway, Teignmouth at around 4.35am on Saturday 17 July.

The allotment fires initially involved four sheds, but by the end had spread to as many as six - with five sheds completely destroyed.

There was also a gas cylinder inside one of them, and petrol canisters nearby.

By 5.33am, the crews had the fires under control and were monitoring the gas cylinder and petrol canisters. A final update was given at 6.01am.

The police were requested to attend as the fire was believed to be 'of doubtful origin'.
