A dog behaviour expert based in Dawlish is offering free advice to Ukrainian refugees arriving in the UK with their dogs.
Sally Lewis, a certified canine and animal behaviourist and family dog mediator, has asked anyone in the local area who has a refugee and their dog staying with them to contact her for free 'decompression advice' to help the dog de-stress.
Her practice covers Exeter, Exminster, Starcross, Dawlish, Teignmouth, Newton Abbot, Torbay, Totnes, Paignton, and surrounding areas.
She said: "As several host families in the area open their homes to Ukranian refugees, I'd like to offer my help to those who are arriving in the UK with their dogs. Many of the dogs have been through a great deal of stress and trauma as they have travelled, with their equally as stressed humans. If anyone has a refugee and their dog staying with them, please contact me for FREE decompression advice, to help these dogs de-stress as best as possible.
"I specialise in aggression, stress based behaviours, fear, and anxiety, although work with families and their dogs who are experiencing a wider variety of behavioural struggles. I only use kind, ethical methods that are led by the latest scientific research in dog behaviour. I will make written text available in Ukrainian and English."
You can contact Sally on behalf of the refugee living with you, or they can contact her directly via her website, Facebook, or email address.
