Dawlish's Poetry for Pleasure group has launched a poetry competition for the coronation of King Charles III.

Supported by Dawlish Town Council and Dawlish Water Rotary Club, the competition is open to locals aged 18 and over.

The theme is "The King's Coronation – A Royal Progress" and the maximum number of lines permitted is 30.

David Pickton of Poetry for Pleasure said: "This is a great opportunity for people to express how they feel in a positive way about the King, who many feel has provided some excellent leadership since the Queen died."

The group will judge the entries and prizes will be awarded for the best three poems on the bandstand on the Lawn on Sunday 7 May.

The closing date for entries is Saturday 15 April.

Entry forms can be obtained either from the Manor House on Old Town Street or by emailing Robin at [email protected].
