Dawlish: Consultation closing soon for wind turbines, homes, and Gypsy and Traveller sites in Teignbridge
A public consultation on site options for wind turbines and small residential developments, a site for Gypsies and Travellers, and a new solar panel policy is due to end soon.
The 10-week consultation opened on 15 November and is due to close on Monday 24 January.
It comes as the final part of the district council's 'Local Plan Review' for guiding new development over the next two decades.
The consultation
Areas near Dawlish being considered for wind turbines include an area north of Langdon Road, and at Summercombe Woods. Also identified are an area west of Cockwood, two areas near Bishopsteignton, and two more near Ideford.
Land off Meadow Park in Dawlish has been identified as an option for a small residential site, as have three areas near Teignmouth including land off Holcombe Road, Higher Woodway Road, and Shepherds Lane.
One site off the A38 near Ashburton has been identified as a possible site for Gypsies and Travellers.
The council is also seeking comments on a new planning policy, not site options, for solar panels. It would establish a premise that 'applications for solar/PV development would be granted where the benefits of renewable energy creation outweigh any other potential disadvantages'.
You can comment online, email [email protected], or write to the council to give your views.
Paper copies of the consultation documents are available at Forde House, local libraries and at town council offices.
