Dawlish's HM Coastguard Rescue Team were called out after 10.30am on Tuesday this week (16 August) after an upturned canoe had been found along the coast.

They joined RNLI volunteers from Teignmouth and Torbay, together with a rescue helicopter, in searching the area.

The occupants of the canoe were eventually found safe and well by members of the Dawlish HM Coastguard team.

A spokesperson said: "Dawlish Coastguard Rescue Team were tasked at 10.37am on 16 August 2022 to assist RNLI Teignmouth after an upturned canoe had been located along the coast.

"Area searches were conducted with RNLI Torbay and Bristow Group Rescue Helicopter from St Athan.

"Devon & Cornwall Police conducted enquiries and eventually occupants were located safe and well on land by members of our team.

"Property was returned and the team stood down."
