An appeal has been launched in Dawlish for people to 'twin' their vaccine by donating to charities that can provide jabs for people in developing countries.

Christian charity ROC Dawlish and the Helping Dawlish initiative are supporting two campaigns run by UNICEF and Tearfund to provide vaccines to people around the world with limited access.

Mark Jones of ROC Dawlish said in an online video: "We've all had our vaccines for free, and yet for millions of people in the developing world, the thought of a vaccine is months away yet.

"We're working to 'Twin Your Vaccine' with somebody who really needs it.

"We're working with UNICEF on the production of the COVAX vaccine for the developing world - we're also working with Tearfund to roll out an education programme, along with the PPE that people need, along with the sanitising stations that people need, to keep safe until they get their vaccine.

"We're campaigning for every man, woman, and child in the world to receive a vaccine, if they would like one.

"It's a one-off thing, no ongoing commitment - whether you want to give to UNICEF, Tearfund, or a bit to each, it's entirely up to you, but we'd love your support.

"God bless you."
