An entire wall of The Ship Inn at Cockwood has fallen away due to heavy rainfall.

The pub near Dawlish is built out of a material called 'cob' - a traditional West Country building material made out of mud and straw.

Nobody was injured in the incident.

While some staff were present at the time, nobody was behind the bar and no customers were inside - though the wall of the pub chef's upstairs accommodation fell away in the incident.

Anna Brown, who has run the pub along with her family since 2007, says that the 'shocking' collapse came without warning.

She told the BBC: "Basically, at about half 11 this morning [Sunday 29 October], the wall behind the the bar fell out, fell down in towards the garden.

"It feels horrendous, this is our family pub, this is our business. We will be back and serving as soon as we possibly can."
