Nominations open for Civic Awards 2021

Local News by Philippa Davies 23rd Jul 2021

Nominations have opened for Dawlish's 2021 Civic Awards – recognising people who have made a significant contribution to the parish and its residents.

Two awards will be presented by the town council: one for an individual and one for an organisation.

Those who make nominations must be able to demonstrate that the person or group has done at least one of these things:

  • Made a material contribution to the advancement, wellbeing and welfare of the people of Dawlish.
  • Supported charitable work carried out in the parish.
  • Assisted the work of the town council in a voluntary capacity.
  • Demonstrated outstanding citizenship.

The deadline for nominations is Thursday, March 11, and they will be considered by the Civic Amenities Committee on March 17.

The awards will be presented remotely during the annual meeting of the town council on Wednesday, May 5.

Last year the Civic Awards were called off after the Covid pandemic took hold. Nominations from 2020 will not be held over, but people can re-nominate a person or group they felt deserved recognition last year.

Nomination forms can be downloaded from the town council's website and should be completed and emailed to [email protected] or returned by post or in person to:
